Acceptance of Terms
By using spectrumaffirming.com, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. We may update these terms as the site changes — see "Changes to These Terms" below.
What This Site Is
Spectrum Affirming is a peer-led resource site — articles, a resource library, a job board, and consulting services — for autistic adults, the questioning, the self-diagnosed, and the late-diagnosed, and everyone who loves them. It is not therapy, not legal advice, not medical advice, and not a guarantee of any outcome (including employment outcomes from the job board or consulting sessions). See our full Disclaimer for the complete scope of what we do and don't offer, including crisis resources.
Using This Site
You're welcome to read, share, and link to our content. You may not:
- Republish or redistribute our articles, resource guides, or other written content as your own, in whole or substantial part, without permission
- Use the site, the job board, the contact form, or the store in a way that's abusive, fraudulent, or intended to harm the community this site serves
- Attempt to access, scrape, or interfere with the site's backend, admin systems, or data beyond normal browsing
Content Ownership
Articles, resource guides, and original site content are owned by Spectrum Affirming and its individual authors. Quotes and short excerpts with attribution and a link back are welcome. Third-party links (books, apps, employer programs, affiliate links) belong to their respective owners — we don't claim any rights over them, and our linking to something isn't an endorsement of everything else on that site.
AI Policy
AI is automation, extrapolated
We consider AI to be one utility of many. In fashioning tools — and especially in the age of computing — we have always had AI, automation, or programming on hand in some way, shape, or form: recommendation engines, auto-tagging, spellcheck, mastering assistance. What's changed recently is the scale and visibility of it, not whether it exists.
A practical note on AI detection, as of this writing
Distributors, video platforms, and social apps have gotten increasingly aggressive about flagging content as AI-made — and increasingly imprecise about it. We've experienced this directly: a photo we made by hand gets flagged by a distributor's AI filter as AI-generated. A video posted to Instagram gets called "AI" by viewers when it wasn't. Use AI at any single stage — editing, color correction, captioning, scheduling — and the whole piece tends to get filed under "AI-made," regardless of how much of it was human work. There's currently no clean, reliable way to signal "made by a person, AI used to refine it" to these systems. That may well change as detection improves — this reflects where things stand right now, not a permanent state of affairs.
Our position: we individually author, design, draft, edit, and launch our own work. Every person on this team has real coding and editorial experience that predates the current AI wave. We're AI-affirming — we use AI tools to refine our process and sharpen our output — but authorship is ours. AI involvement at a given stage doesn't change who made something; it changes how efficiently they made it.
From Spectra: tbh, AI can be a form of reparations for neurodiverse individuals, anywhere in the process. The human ideats and the AI iterates. The expression is as individual as the individual. With all the false positives and false accusations around AI, people are questioning what is real and what is not. We have to move forward on our through line of what we know to be real and what we really mean to say, at home, and at work, and at play.
The Job Board and Store
Job listings are hand-vetted, but we can't guarantee any listing's continued accuracy, availability, or outcome — always verify directly with the employer before applying. Store links may be affiliate links (see the disclosure on each Store page) — we only link to things we'd genuinely recommend, and affiliate status never changes what you pay.
Consulting Services
Resource Navigation and Job Coaching sessions are peer support, not therapy, legal advice, or a guarantee of any outcome. Full scope and disclaimer at our Disclaimer page.
Limitation of Liability
Spectrum Affirming and its authors provide this site's content and services "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep information accurate and current, but we're not liable for decisions made based on content here, or for outcomes related to job listings, resource recommendations, or consulting sessions.
